-We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor, who will be responsible to oversee and manage the plant operation processes at the UCC, Direct Reduction, Cyclone, Quaternary Crusher, Stacker and Washing & Screening Plant, in a manner that ensures maximum availability, and efficiency at all times. The role will also be responsible for executing daily functions i.e conducting over inspections on work being done in the plant, coordinate all work and major downtime in plant, management of team and ensuring full compliance with relevant safety, health and environmental requirements.

Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.


Job Description
-As a Shift Supervisor , your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Managing plant operation processes and to maximise equipment utilisation for quality products in a cost effective manner.
  • To implement and streamline new working procedures and processes to ensure better productivity.
  • Doing over inspections on work being done in the plant.
  • Liaising with various stakeholders for purposes of resolving problems.
  • Undertaking to regular planning for production, scheduled maintenance and resources to minimise delays in production.
  • Monitoring & controlling of the plant processes & equipment performance.
  • Assisting in the development of contingency plans that will enable production to maintain in the event of unforeseen failures, delays or circumstances.
  • Maintenance/preparation activities are coordinated in a way that will ensure minimum production losses and safe practices.
  • Establishing and maintain strong working relations with maintenance.
  • Enforcing discipline and high performance of teams through the relevant ER/HR procedures and interventions.
  • Managing Plant and Union relations
  • Managing the time and attendance and leave planning of immediate team.
  • Adhering to all Health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance.

This role is in the Processing department at a Band 7 level reporting to the Section Manager.


Qualifications
-You will need to have the following:

  • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical Certificate
  • Valid South African Driver’s license
  • MQA level 2 Processing Certificate advantageous

Experience :

  • 3-5 years plant production experience in a P3 or P4 level
